Papercrafting Challenges for 2013
I've decided to put together what I call Maxi Kits to cover an entire album to make it easier to maintain continuity within an album. This is something I hate about my old albums.
So I have discovered that while kit clubs are all the rage right now, at least 2 places have an interesting twist - create a kit based on your own supplies!
This is perfect because I still want to use up some ooooold papers and sneak them into current ones and give them a new lease on life.
I'm going to try taking part in the Counterfeit Kit Challenge and Scrap Stash Kit Club. The plan is to assemble several smaller kits from one of my Maxi Kits and create about 6 layouts.
This month I also tried copying Shimelle Laine's (scrappy crush alert!) new concept The Best of Both Worlds Kit available at Two Peas in a Bucket. She puts together amazing kits but I want to work within the supplies I've set aside.
By my calculations, if I get 6 layouts out of each kit club, I'll have 36 layouts in 2 months which won't complete a yearly album but will be fairly close to it!
I'm hoping to get a fair few albums to this stage in 2013.
I'm also planning to play along with the 52 Cards Challenge. One card a week! I can definitely do that.
Such bite sized projects will help me create without burning out.
I'll probably begin the layouts by copying many of Shimelle's sketches but my personal challenge will be to try to change at least one significant component.
I'm just too tired to think for myself at this point but I'll go stark raving mad if I don't create (and FINISH) something pretty at least a few times a week.
Sooo...I've put the pics of my CKC Jan 2013 Kit on Flickr along with my SSKC Jan 2013 Kit. I still need to assemble a few more things for SSKC. There were no quantities to follow so my kit is completely OTT for something meant to get me through 6-8 layouts. Next month I'll limit quantities to those found in CKC.
I also need to finalize my version of Shimelle's Jan kit so I can scrap along with her.
In other news, I signed up as a Stampin' Up Demonstrator last year. It's something I should have done 5+ years ago. I'm not doing any demo-ing unless someone really wants me to. I just want to buy at a discount which SU is totally fine with but I have had some people request classes.
Card classes I can probably do but scrapbooking classes I don't have energy for yet. My scrapping mojo needs to be loved on for a while before I can help anyone else.
